WFTU Mission to Turkey: "Government and Employers are guilty for the crime"
From today, Friday the 16th of May 2014, a high-level delegation arrived to Istanbul, Turkey to stand on the side of the Turkish working class in these moments of great tragedy caused by the employers’ and the government’s crime at the Soma Coal Mine.
The delegation headed by the WFTU General Secretary, George Mavrikos accompanied by the WFTU Deputy General Secretary, Valentin Pacho and Toum Ferhat, Unionist and Interpreter met with the leadership of DISK headed by its General Secretary Arzu Çerkezoğlu and expressed the condolences on behalf of the 90 million members of the WFTU to the Turkish working class and the solidarity in their struggle.
“The WFTU mission which brings us here together with our Turkish brothers in a tragic moment is a moral and active form of solidarity to the working class of Turkey, to the trade union movement in their struggle against the private-ownership of the mines, for the satisfaction of their demands in safety measures in all workplaces” George Mavrikos stated in front of numerous journalists at the Press Conference held at the DISK Headoffices and added: “We, the trade unions, will not stop in the bargaining for better wages, we will do anything in our power to protect the safety of our members and to struggle for their livelihood”.
The WFTU delegation will remain in Istanbul and continue its meetings with trade union Organizations and acts of solidarity.

MISSIONE DEL FSM IN TURCHIA
GOVERNO E PADRONI SONO COLPEVOLI DI QUESTO CRIMINE
EUROPA, SALUTE E SICUREZZA, NELLE MINIERE IN TURCHIA
Da oggi, Venerdì 16 maggio 2014, una delegazione molto rappresentativa del WFTU è arrivata ad Istanbul, Turchia per esprimere il proprio sostegno alla classe operaia turca in questi momenti di grande tragedia causata da un crimine dei padroni e del Governo nelle miniere Soma di carbone.
La delegazione della FSM guidata dal Segretario Generale George Mavrikos accompagnato dal Vice Segretario Generale Valentin Pacho e Toum Ferhat, unionista e interprete, si è incontrata con la dirigenza del DISK guidata dal suo segretario generale Arzu Çerkezoğlu e ha espresso il cordoglio a nome di tutti i 90 milioni di membri della FSM alla classe operaia turca e la solidarietà alla loro lotta.
"La missione della FSM che ci porta qui insieme ai nostri fratelli turchi in un momento tragico è una forma di solidarietà morale e attiva verso la classe operaia della Turchia, per il movimento sindacale nella loro lotta contro il privato, la proprietà delle miniere, per la soddisfazione delle loro richieste di misure di sicurezza in tutti i luoghi di lavoro” lo ha dichiarato George Mavrikos di fronte a numerosi giornalisti alla conferenza stampa tenutasi presso il DISK Headoffices e ha aggiunto:" Noi, i sindacati, non ci fermeremo nella contrattazione per salari migliori, faremo qualsiasi cosa in nostro potere per proteggere la sicurezza dei nostri membri e lottare per il loro sostentamento ".
La delegazione FSM rimarrà a Istanbul e proseguirà gli incontri con le organizzazioni sindacali e gli atti di solidarietà.
