Trade Union International – Public Service and Allied (TUI-PS&A) which represents millions of workers across the world takes this opportunity to pledge its solidarity and support to “UNIONE SINDICALE DI BASE (USB) and its members “Fire Fighters workers” in Italy who are being persecuted by the government and facing dismissals for exercising their right to protest as outlined in the ILO Conventions.

These workers who through their conviction to defend the right to life for Palestinian women, children and its entire citizenry who for the past two years have faced the risk of extinction through the action of the Zionist government of Israel and the Israeli Defence Force (IDF), who are committing an act of Genocide to the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Out TUI condemns this act of cowardice by the Italian government who is acting as agents of the Israeli government. Fire fighters’ workers in their nature are trained to save lives in the most dangerous working environment and should be given the dignity and respect they deserve.

The struggles and the gesture of solidarity shown by these workers towards the people of Palestine is what most workers around the world have been seen doing and fighting for in the streets, of Athens, New York, Mumbai, Caracas, Havana and South Africa to mention a few, calling for the end to the genocidal war in Gaza.

We therefore call on the government of Italy to stop the persecuting and purging workers for exercising their international recognized workers’ right to protest against any form of barbarism and inhuman so that they can smoothly go back to their respective work stations to do what they know best, to save lives particularly of the most vulnerable component of society, the working class and the poor.

In this regard, we call upon all our members and trade unions in the public services and allied all around the world to pledge solidarity support to our affiliate, the USB and Fire Fighters by sending messages of solidarity as well as organizing pickets to all Italy’s Embassies and consulate in their countries until our fellow workers return back to their workplaces.
