USB expresses solidarity with WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos
USB expresses solidarity with WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos who has been denied the Visa by US government.
For the first time US Government has denied granting the Visa to attend a meeting in United Nations in New York.
WFTU has a permanent representative into United Nation and this is the first time US Government denied Visa to his General Secretary.
The refusal of the United States government to grant a visa to the General Secretary of the WFTU is an unacceptable discrimination against the WFTU and its right to exercise its role in the United Nations, a role it has played since 1945 to date. At the same time as a result of its action, the US Department of State violates the right of free trade union action.
USB Italia demands that the US Government immediately revise its decision and grants a visa to George Mavrikos, General Secretary of the WFTU in order to be able to attend the planned events.
