Over the last years a sham debate has been taking place by some people about climate, climate change, ecology, even about the much-trumpeted "green growth". Recently, after the crime against humanity, perpetrated and carried out in the Amazon with the moral support of the bourgeois class and the Brazilian government, the climate debate was relaunched with new momentum by the so-called “think tanks”, NGOs, imperialist governments, transnationals and reformist unions. Most of them in a hypocritical way, since they seek to disorient the peoples.

More precisely, the campaign of the international partner of imperialism, of the businessmen friend within the labor movement, the ITUC, under the title "Global Week of Climate Action" to be organized this month, seems hypocritical and dangerous. The leaders of the ITUC, who are trade unionists only in name, pretend not to know the true causes of the harm dealt to environment, workers and peoples around the world due to natural disasters. They turn a deaf ear to capitalist production, that is to say the anarchy of  capitalist production that seeks to maximize the profits of the capital owners. This mode of production is responsible for the environmental impact that also definitely influences climate change.

Everyone knows who destroys the environment, who plunders natural resources. Everyone knows, but only class-oriented unions call things by their true names.

The simple people are those who pay the death toll from the floods in the slums, being burnt by fire, exhale their last breath during a heat wave. On the other hand, who could forget the imperialist interventions that damaged and destroyed the environment, as happened in Yugoslavia, Syria, Iraq and so many other countries?

Obviously, the criterion that concerns bourgeois governments (as well as the ITUC when it comes to support the proposals of the governments of Spain and Peru) is not the needs of the workers and peoples, but countering the consequences of climate change on capitalist profit.

For the WFTU it is a scandal that our working brothers and sisters perish in natural disasters, although there are scientific, technical and material conditions to counteract and to some extent prevent disasters. For the WFTU there is a solution: to struggle against this system that generates environmental disasters, unemployment and wars. Only then can workers live on a sustainable planet, with a decent life, work and rights.

Therefore, given that climate and environmental problems are existing, we call on all workers, all trade unions to highlight the roots of the problem and be at the forefront of the struggles for the defense of the environment and its protection against predatory exploitation.


CLIMATE AND CAPITALIST PROFITS ARE INCOMPATIBLE!

 CLIMA E PROFITTI DEL CAPITALE

Negli ultimi anni si è sviluppato da più parti un finto dibattito sul clima, il cambiamento climatico, l'ecologia e persino sulla tanto pubblicizzata "crescita verde". Recentemente, dopo il crimine contro l'umanità perpetrato e portato avanti in Amazzonia con il sostegno morale della classe borghese e del governo brasiliano, il dibattito sul clima è stato rilanciato con nuovo slancio dai cosiddetti "think tank", ONG, governi imperialisti, multinazionali e sindacati riformisti. La maggior parte di loro in modo ipocrita, cercando di disorientare la gente.

Più precisamente, la campagna dei partner internazionali dell'imperialismo, degli amici degli imprenditori nel movimento operaio, la CSI – Confederazione Sindacale Internazionale -, sotto il titolo "Settimana globale di azione per il clima" che sarà organizzata questo mese, sembra ipocrita e pericolosa.

I leader della CSI, che sono sindacalisti solo di nome, fingono di non conoscere le vere cause dei danni causati all'ambiente, ai lavoratori e ai popoli di tutto il mondo dalle calamità naturali. Fanno orecchie da mercante sulla produzione capitalista, cioè l'anarchia della produzione capitalista che cerca di massimizzare i profitti dei detentori dei capitali. Questo modo di produzione è responsabile dell'impatto ambientale che influenza definitivamente anche il cambiamento climatico.

Tutti sanno chi distrugge l'ambiente, chi saccheggia le risorse naturali. Tutti lo sanno, ma solo i sindacati di classe chiamano le cose con il loro vero nome.

Le persone semplici sono coloro che pagano il tributo di morti per le inondazioni nelle baraccopoli, bruciati dal fuoco, o esalano il loro ultimo respiro durante un'ondata di calore. D'altra parte, chi potrebbe dimenticare gli interventi imperialisti che hanno danneggiato e distrutto l'ambiente, come è successo in Jugoslavia, Siria, Iraq e in tanti altri paesi?

Ovviamente, il parametro che preoccupa i governi borghesi (così come la CSI quando si tratta di sostenere le proposte dei governi di Spagna e Perù) non sono i bisogni dei lavoratori e dei popoli, ma le conseguenze del cambiamento climatico sul profitto capitalista.

Per la WFTU è uno scandalo che i nostri fratelli e sorelle che lavorano periscano in disastri naturali, anche se ci sono condizioni scientifiche, tecniche e materiali per contrastare e in qualche misura prevenire i disastri. Per la WFTU c'è una soluzione: lottare contro questo sistema che genera disastri ambientali, disoccupazione e guerre. Solo così i lavoratori potranno vivere in un pianeta sostenibile, con una vita, un lavoro e diritti dignitosi.

Pertanto, visto che esistono problemi climatici e ambientali, chiediamo a tutti i lavoratori, a tutti i sindacati di mettere in evidenza le radici del problema e di essere in prima linea nelle lotte per la difesa dell'ambiente e la sua protezione contro lo sfruttamento predatorio.
